What is Mini Masterpieces?

Mini Masterpieces is a unique filmmaking scheme that combines training, script development, production and exhibition.

Calling The Shots devised the scheme in 2003 for the BBC and Brief Encounters International Film Festival.   Since then it has become an annual event at the festival in Bristol.  We have refined the approach and now work with film schools and in many other media environments including for Channel 4, Bristol University and the UK Film Council.

The strong emphasis on learning and creative lateral thinking, also works well in schools, colleges and in the business world.

Mini Masterpieces uses the Bristol Rules...a stringent but creative list of restrictions developed over the last eight years. Using the method, we've produced over 30 films including award-winners God and Dave, The Audition, Forgotten Comic, Gash and Double Take.
